St. Andreas

St Andreas Church

The St Andreas Church was built by Duke Rudolf August of Brunswick and Lüneburg as a court and castle church and was consecrated in 1702 to the honour of God. The name and the court‘s coat of arms above the door of the west entrance refer to the builder. The baroque church is unique in the Brunswick County because of the 2-storey gallery and the 8 columns which connect the altar and pulpit.

The deanery and parish church St Andreas is the only Protestant church in the town centre of Seesen and is part of the church parish St Vitus and St Andreas, which is the second largest parish in the church region Brunswick. The immediate proximity of St Andreas Church and the Protestant church centre allows a varied parish life. With generous donations of the Seesen citizens the organs could be renovated in 2002. The fame of the ‘Konzerte an St. Andreas’ goes beyond the region.

Protestant services are held on Saturday at 18.00 o'clock and Sunday at 10.00 o'clock. The church can be visited daily from 14.00 – 17.00 hrs.
