Spohr Medaille

The virtuoso violinist and composer Louis-Spohr (1784 - 1859) spent his childhood in Seesen from 1786 to 1796. In memory of the great composer, the town of Seesen has instituted the Louis-Spohr-Prize. It is awarded every two years to highly gifted and promising musicians. Up to now Martin Spangenberg, Antje Weithaas, Daishin Kashimoto, Mahalia Kelz, Viviane Hagner, Sharon Coming and Jörg Widmann were awarded this prize.
